Dual diagnosis occurs if someone is suffering from a mental health disorder alongside a substance use disorder, creating a perpetual cycle of abuse and distress. Dual diagnosis treatment is complex, as it requires simultaneous and effective intervention for both issues.

At Ripple Ranch, we are passionate about breaking this devastating cycle. We provide our clients with the opportunity to not only reach recovery from their substance use but also uncover and treat co-occurring mental health disorders.

The treatments at Ripple Ranch Recovery may vary since its personalized for each individual, but it’s mostly a combination of the following therapies:

  • Dual diagnosis individual therapy
  • Dual diagnosis group therapy
  • Life-skills training

Aside from these evidence-based treatments, we have alternative methods that offer patients a more holistic form of treatment, like yoga and tai chi, to address physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

During residential treatment, patients learn recovery skills, interpersonal skills, and mental health management skills to manage mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, mood disorders, and others. Length of stay is determined individually by our clinical team with the patient.

Residential patients attend 30 hours of programming per week. The topics covered include the biology of addiction, interpersonal skills, relapse prevention skills, communication skills, anger management, grief/loss, codependency, movement, yoga, and recovery skills. The residential program centered on evidenced-based practices, recent neuroscience discoveries, and the mind-body connection.

The patient will work with an individual counselor to resolve any presenting mental health issues, trauma issues, and or any adverse childhood experiences. Mental health issues, trauma, and adverse childhood experiences are risk factors that may be contributing to the addiction. In addition to clinical participation, patients will learn about the 12-step program and attend 12-step meetings on-campus and off-campus.

The treatment approach to substance abuse has to be as unique and individualized as the person being treated.

At Laurel Ridge, we use the Gorski-Cenaps Model throughout adult inpatient substance abuse treatment, which is an evidenced-based treatment modality that focuses on relapse prevention, recovery, addiction, mental illness, and health and wellness. Components of this treatment approach include a biopsychosocial model of addiction, the development model of recovery, and relapse management.

Call our admissions team to explain more about your situation to us. We will work with you and your insurance company to figure out all the available options.

Supporting the long-term health of a Green Beret's Mind, Body, and Spirit.

The long-term health of a Green Beret’s mind, body, and spirit is of the utmost importance to the Foundation. We supplement the care that the Military Health System (MHS) and Veterans Health Administration (VA) provide to ensure total wellness for the Green Beret.

Some examples of how we support our community:

  • Funded Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for TBI and PTSD
  • Alpha-Stim®
  • Infrared Light Therapy
  • ChiliPad™
  • Neurofeedback
  • Laser Regeneration Therapy
  • Aphasia Therapy
  • Access to substance abuse treatment
  • Inpatient/Outpatient healthcare costs not covered by TRICARE or the Veterans Health Administration

Health and Wellness Support Process:

  1. A Green Beret, family member, or Care Coalition advocate contacts the Foundation to inform us of a need that has arisen in our community.
  2. We ensure the person is, in fact, a Green Beret and that the need is valid and not supported by the Veterans Administration.
  3. We require supporting documentation to communicate the scope and cost of the support required.
  4. We require supporting documentation to communicate the scope and cost of the support required.
  5. We require supporting documentation to communicate the scope and cost of the support required.
  6. We continuously engage with the Green Beret and his family to see if the support has been helpful and if other needs have arisen.

The Behavioral Health Diversion Program provides 24/7 residential support with embedded outpatient treatment services for men with co-occurring disorders in need of post-crisis stabilization or early justice system intervention (diversion).

Crosspoint’s program serves adults with mental health disorders, substance abuse disorders, or co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders. All participants reside at Crosspoint for a period ranging from 60 to 120 days (up to 210 persons served per year).

Mental health services are rendered on-site by Crosspoint licensed clinicians and a part-time contractual psychiatrist. For those residents needing services elsewhere in the community and/or as part of the discharge process, Crosspoint staff facilitates referrals to external providers. When a partner delivers behavioral health care, Case Managers regularly communicate with treatment staff to solve problems, ensure retention in treatment, reduce challenges to completion, and eliminate service duplication.

In Crosspoint’s experience, most members of the target population will be homeless or at risk of becoming homeless; therefore our Case Managers help participants secure stable housing that supports a pro-social lifestyle before program release.

Men only

Must have a mental health disorder, substance abuse disorder, or co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders.

Clients in need of step-down services can be referred by hospital social workers associated with the Southwest Texas Crisis Collaborative. Those individuals who are criminal justice system involved due to behavioral health issues can be referred by Central Magistration (pretrial) or Specialty Courts.
