Building Brighter Communities works to provide food and other necessities like toothbrushes and toothpaste to people who lack access to them either to financial or mobility barriers. We partner with other organizations that can provide food resources when possible and we make emergency grocery runs when necessary. We assist community members with applying for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) program for those who are eligible. We connect individuals with other long-term food assistance programs who are not eligible for government assistance.

The Critical Financial Assistance program is designed to provide short-term financial help for military families who are experiencing financial hardship.

If you need financial assistance for overdue bills, repairs, or other critical family needs and you are a current of former military service member, you may be eligible for Operation Homefront's Critical Financial Assistance.

On the first Monday of the month, volunteers distribute a two-week food stipend to low-income seniors.

Case managers are provided to empower refugees to better acculturate and integrate into the local community and American Lifestyle. Services provided: assistance with housing, Food Stamp applications, Medicaid renewals, transportation, interpretations services, school registration and instructional orientations to teach self-sufficiency.

Gabriella's Gifts is part of Gabriella's Smile Foundation, which focuses on providing children with cancer and their families in San Antonio area hospitals with an opportunity to experience joy and smiles in the midst of their difficult journey.

Gabriella received gifts all the time. During radiation, as she struggled to get through the 33 days of her treatment, our friends collected something special for her to open every day. She had enough gifts to open one daily after she came home from her treatment. She also received weekly packages with toys and gifts that brought a much-needed smile to her face. While in the hospital, she received presents nearly every day. Gabriella would often pick out treats from her big stash and donate them to the prize room in the hospital. 

We are committed to providing support to families in San Antonio who are in the hospital. Whether it is backpacks for their children at the beginning of the school year, a warm meal, a gift card for coffee, a gas card, or a gift on special holidays, we want to fill this need.

To qualify, families must have a child who has been diagnosed with cancer and is currently receiving treatment in San Antonio.

We provide confidential, personal assistance to Veterans, family members, caregivers and widows to help locate or resolve unmet needs that other programs may not support.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helps people buy food for good health. SNAP food benefits are put on a spending card and can be used as a debit card at any store that accepts SNAP.

Our case managers are available by appointment to provide assistance in accessing the resources if you qualify. 

Our care coordination team will receive your message and call you back within 24 hours.

We can assist in person, by phone, or by email- whatever you prefer.
