Help Pay for Housing near
The Center for Minority Veterans is the Department of Veterans Affairs model for inter-and intra-agency co-operation, to ensure all veterans receive equal service regardless of race, origin, religion, or gender. We are process improvement-oriented and both internal and external customer-centric. We assist VA in executing its mission in the most equitable, efficient and humane way possible. Dignity and an acceptable quality of life are the products we seek to deliver to ALL veterans no matter what their circumstance. We will grace our mission execution with gratitude to the men and women we now serve who in turn served our Nation so well.
The primary goal of this outreach initiative is to increase local awareness of minority Veteran related issues and develop strategies for increasing their participation in existing VA benefit programs for eligible Veterans. Minority Veterans Program Coordinator’s are located at Regional Offices, Health Care Facilities and National Cemeteries and are responsible for:
- Promoting the use of VA benefits, programs, and services by minority Veterans.
- Supporting and initiating activities that educate and sensitize internal staff to the unique needs of minority Veterans.
- Targeting outreach efforts to minority Veterans through community networks.
- Advocating on behalf of minority Veterans by identifying gaps in services and make recommendations to improve service delivery within their facilities.
There is a Minority Veteran Program Coordinator (MVPC) located in each state’s Regional Office, Health Care Facility and National Cemetery to educate and assist with your eligibility of benefits and services.

Our financial assistance is on a very limited basis.
At Always Best Care Senior Services, our mission is to provide veterans with the most outstanding care possible, and also to assist them in obtaining the funds to pay for the care they need.
The Always Best Care Veterans Assistance Program helps some of America’s most deserving citizens remain in their homes longer while maintaining a healthy and safer lifestyle. Or, if the veteran chooses to move to an assisted living community, benefits can also apply to the cost of room and board as well as personal care.
As part of our program, we want to help veterans and their families understand what VA programs are available.
Here’s how we help
At Always Best Care, we not only provide outstanding care for veterans, we also assist them in obtaining the funds to pay for the care they need. For example, if you choose to work with one of our resources, their process includes:
- Thoroughly researching and reviewing all pertinent records and testimony, documenting medical conditions, need for care, military service, marital records, and financial status (if required).
- Obtaining necessary documents from original and certified sources (this includes obtaining certified copies of military discharges).
- Researching your particular situation and history with a view of selecting which VA disability program might be the most beneficial.
- Preparing a written legal opinion regarding eligibility for the desired VA benefit and the anticipated amount of award.
- If the legal opinion is positive, you may begin care with Always Best Care confident of your legal entitlement to VA benefits.
- Preparing presenting and prosecuting a complete documented claim for the desired benefit.
To contact an Always Best Care specialist for more information about our Veterans Assistance Program, or to arrange a no obligation care consultation, please call 210-772-2277.

Participants in HABC’s Housing Choice Voucher program may lease an approved housing unit where vouchers are accepted. The participant pays a portion of the rent (according to household income), and HABC pays the difference.
Notification to the general public when pre-applications are taken will be made through various media and social sources.
Eligibility is determined based on the total annual income and family size of the household. Annual income cannot exceed 50% of the area median income for Bexar County. Family assets are also taken into consideration when determining eligibility.
Pre-applications are taken during waiting list events. (Currently no one is eligible for a new voucher as the waiting list is currently closed)
Participants in HABC’s Housing Choice Voucher program may lease an approved housing unit where vouchers are accepted. The tenant is expected to comply with the lease and the HCV program requirements, pay their share of rent on time, maintain the housing unit in good condition and notify HABC of any changes in household income or composition.
