Interested in solving climate change? You are welcome in Citizens’ Climate.
We’re regular people from Texas who are working together to get climate laws passed.
We believe that the only way to tackle climate change is together.
We connect over shared concerns, build consensus, and work with elected officials from every party toward climate solutions.
Together, we make a much bigger impact than we could individually by:
- Starting productive conversations about climate solutions in our community
- Getting more people talking about solutions
- Building support for climate action with community leaders
- Meeting with our members of Congress to advocate for effective climate solutions
You can't solve climate change alone, but together we can. You in?
Thank you for your gift of any amount! 1HOPE’s mission is to find foster and forever homes for abused and neglected children where they can be loved, nurtured, and provided with educational opportunities that contribute to their future success.
Join us and become a Defender. Defenders answer a call from the Lord to serve children in foster care through prayer and recurring monthly donations.
For $30 a month or more, you can be a 1HOPE Defender and help provide forming helmets, braces and orthodontia, additional therapy, diapers, and medical expenses. Defenders’ gifts also contribute to training and equipping foster parents with the knowledge and skills needed to lovingly parent traumatized children for the glory of God.

Advocate
As part of our mission, we lead hunger and poverty advocacy efforts in San Antonio and Southwest Texas. The San Antonio Food Bank Government Relations team works with our state and national colleagues to educate public officials in our 16-county service area about the impact of food insecurity in our communities and to identify policy solutions to help put families on the road to health. Mobilizing state and federal lawmakers to support legislative solutions for hunger relief is a critical part of our work. Advocate with us. Together we can solve hunger.

CASA’s independent evaluations allow the court to make better informed decisions.

This is a food outreach ministry that targets food insecurity in our local student population. The students we serve are enrolled in the meal assistance programs at their schools, but often do not have sufficient food in the home for the weekends.
The backpacks are filled towards the end of the week and then delivered to the local schools. The teachers give the backpacks to the students at end of the day to take home. The students bring the backpacks back to their respective schools at the beginning of each week, and the weekly cycle is repeated.
Sts. Peter and Paul parish realizes that the death of a loved one is a very challenging time. Members of the Bereavement Committee unite in assisting the family during this time of need.
Volunteers respond immediately when notified of a death and are willing to provide assistance with the funeral reception or any other arrangements, if requested.
Our Bereavement Committee coordinates with the family to ensure that food is prepared and is ready to be served to the family and guests following a funeral.
Some members of this ministry assist with the preparation of baked goods or sandwiches at home, while others come to the parish and set up facilities for the reception and serve those who attend.
Follow-up calls may be made to family members for several months following a death.
If you need the services of this ministry or if you would like to volunteer to join this ministry, contact Merlene Peters 830-625-0345 or Carol Friemuth 830-625-6530.

Members of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church take an active role in feeding the hungry of our community by assisting at the SOS (Spirit of Sharing) Food Bank.
Those who volunteer assist with tasks such as preparing items to be placed in the basic food bags distributed to each person served by the food bank, stocking the shelves, sorting donations, etc. It is a very fulfilling ministry and as you serve, you know that you are answering the Lord's call to feed the hungry.
Donations of food or money are always welcomed. A box is located near the elevator of the Parish Center to accept any non-perishable items you may want to donate.

Our Dare to Dream program matches mentors with youth to navigate life's challenges together, providing advice, encouragement, and a supportive community.
We believe that the simple act of telling a mentee "I believe in you," "You are special," and "You are going to do great things" can transform their journey entirely.
Mentors meet both practical and emotional needs, guiding their mentees through tailored developmental milestones.
Mentors commit to meeting with their mentees every other week to set goals and help them achieve their dreams. While the relationships ideally last a lifetime, the program is a one-year commitment.
The program offers one-on-one mentorship to youth in care aged 11-22.
Our Love Box program provides community and holistic support to fostering families, including caregivers, children experiencing foster care, and biological/adopted children. This wrap-around support empowers caregivers to continue to do the important and meaningful work of being foster parents.
Each Love Box volunteer/group will be matched with a local foster family based on location and compatibility. When our families are matched with committed volunteers who show up monthly, parents feel supported, and children gain a greater sense of normalcy, relational permanency, and self-confidence. This support also leads to increased placement stability, reducing the high rate of turnover that often occurs in the foster care system.

Volunteer with Trulight!
The crisis of orphans in the United States can be overwhelming. Hundreds of children just in Texas are being abused, neglected, and/or trafficked on a daily basis. Many of us sit in our comfort zones and say to ourselves, "it’s too much", "I am just one person", "I have nothing to offer", or "the problem is too big".
The truth is that everyone can #dosomething. Together we can make a difference.
Can you cook a meal for a family who just took in a new foster placement or adoptive placement? Can you donate monetarily or organize a school or church group to gather much-needed supplies? Can you write birthday cards? Can you put together Care Packages for new placements? Can you spread the word by working a booth, talking to your church, or talk to others? Can you advocate?
Other Volunteer Ideas:
- Mentoring
- Tutoring
- Organize Donations for Foster Children
- Campus Cleanup
- Assist with Birthdays
- Host a Donation Drive
- Help/Host Special Events
