Rock Haus Foundation (Nonprofit )

The mission of the Rock Haus Foundation is to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families with resources and opportunities to achieve a life of fulfillment. This includes employment, volunteering, regular recreation/leisure activities, social events, and being connected to service providers that will help families navigate a challenging system.

Current programs and services include:

  • Chair-based Zumba
  • Parent Advocacy

We address issues to assist parents and caregivers in day-to-day care.

Our goals include:

  • Providing education on topics that affect individuals and their families
  • Using social media as a platform to communicate needs and support
  • Utilizing each other’s strengths and experiences to assist those in need
  • Encouraging individual relationships that support and guide
  • Creating a resource guide of providers in Comal County
  • Generating a collective voice that makes a positive impact in our community

Music can have a positive effect on one’s physical wellness, emotional mood, and overall health for individuals with developmental disabilities. The weekly classes are instructed by a qualified music therapist. Each class is planned with sing-alongs plus selected hand-held percussion instruments add to the music enjoyment and expression. These classes aim to improve mood, stimulate self-awareness, and and place an emphasis social interaction.

Dance & Movement classes engage everyone through energized, music-driven physical fitness for the overall health of the body and mind. Each class meets twice a week to inspire adults with developmental disabilities to have a fun-filled experience regardless of their level of ability or mobility. Our goal is to improve flexibility and strength, increase self-confidence, and relieve everyday stresses.

Zumba classes for special needs are similar to any Zumba Gold class with easy-to-follow Zumba choreography and focuses on all elements of fitness. But the main focus is having fun! No dance experience is needed and there are no wrong moves!

Our art classes offer group instruction helping provide equality in the arts for adults with developmental disabilities. The instructors strive to promote creative expression, improve self-confidence, and build self-esteem for each participant.
