The Veterans Financial Assistance Program provides financial assistance to eligible veterans, veterans' dependents, and surviving spouses. Through the program, the Community Council of South Central Texas helps beneficiaries with short-term and temporary financial emergency services.

These include one-time utility payments for electric, gas, propane, water, sewer, trash, and late fees, as well as one-time rental or mortgage assistance covering rent, mortgage, late fees, application fees, and security deposits. The program serves veterans, including older adults, who are behind on their rent, mortgage, or utilities.

Applicants must be veterans, veteran dependents, or surviving spouses. Applicants must reside within the 27 service areas: Atascosa, Bandera, Brewster, Comal, Culberson, Dimmit, Edwards, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Kinney, La Salle, Live Oak, Maverick, McMullen, Medina, Presidio, Real, Uvalde, Val Verde, Wilson, and Zavala.

Financial eligibility requires documented need, specifically being behind on rent, mortgage, or utility payments. No specific federal poverty or income levels are applied.
