Central & South Texas Academic Service Learning Program:

The American Red Cross offers Academic Service Learning Programs (ASL) throughout the Central and South Texas Region. ASL is a teaching method that combines meaningful service to the community with curriculum-based learning. College and universities partner with the American Red Cross and the communities we serve to foster an environment where students learn about themselves and the community by taking action through service.

While providing volunteer service in their communities, students improve their academic skills by applying what they learn in school to the real world. They then reflect on their experience to reinforce the link between their service and their learning.

• Through training and mentorship, students:
Are involved in projects critical to the day-to-day work of our non-profit organization, gaining an insider’s perspective on our mission.
Gain professional experience and exposure to the non-profit sector.
Receive networking and personal and professional development opportunities.

If you have any questions regarding ASL opportunities or want to learn more about our program, email [email protected].

Background checks and age minimums may apply depending on specific volunteer roles.
