The Community Court was founded with the express purpose of generating better outcomes for individuals experiencing homelessness who become involved in the justice system.

The goal is to connect interested individuals with community programs and resources to address the root cause of the offense, whether that is the use of controlled substances, mental health concerns, or lack of support.

Community Court is a Pre-Trial Diversion program with a dismissal of charge upon successful completion.

Who Is Eligible?

• 18 years of age or older
• Meet the HUD definition of experiencing homelessness
• Pending Class A or Class B Misdemeanor Offense (Special accommodations can be made for some felony offenses.) 
• Reside in Bexar County
• Diagnosed with a mental health or substance use disorder (Not required for enrollment.)
• Veterans
