Personal Care Items near

Online and Virtual Assistance

Street Medicine can be thought of as an old-fashioned house call where the roof over someone’s head might be a bridge, a tarp, a tent, the canopy of trees, or the open sky. There are no refrigerators to store medications.  No running water to keep wounds clean or attend to personal hygiene needs. No easy access to transportation, making trips to clinics and pharmacies difficult or impossible.

Due to the austere conditions and realities of street life, street medicine efforts cannot provide comprehensive care to our unsheltered friends; rather, teams aim to build meaningful relationships by caring for acute needs of patients where they live and coordinating more robust care in the community for issues outside the scope of a street medicine practice.

Under the supervision of Medical Director Dr. Hans Bruntmyer, the Street Medicine team spends the majority of their time walking the streets and remote areas of San Antonio and Bexar County equipped with backpacks filled with basic medical supplies, water, socks, and hygiene kits

In addition to predetermined rounds, the team also responds to calls from local outreach workers and law enforcement.

The team does its best to accommodate the environment and effectively care for whatever they might encounter. The team can handle basic primary care issues such as wounds, fractures, sprains, colds, back pain, neck pain, etc. Screenings for blood pressure and blood sugar are also available.

We treat unsheltered individuals.

There is no office or address where services are provided. Caregivers come to you.

Our Bra Assistance Program provides an AnaOno Mastectomy bra to a warrior in need, should their finances not allow them to purchase one.

If you or someone you know is in need of a mastectomy bra, but unable to purchase for financial reasons, apply for a donated bra.

Each month we receive more requests than we can fulfill, so we reserve sponsored bras for those who are in financial distress and going through difficult recoveries.

Pink Warrior Advocates is honored to offer a national Care Kit Program, delivering care kits to warriors across the United States. Each kit contains thoughtfully selected, paraben-free items designed to help individuals cope with side effects during active breast cancer treatment.

  • Diagnosis: Must have received a breast cancer diagnosis within the past 12 months.
  • Prioritization: Due to high demand, we prioritize Texas residents and applicants diagnosed or rediagnosed within the last 6 months who are currently undergoing primary treatment interventions, such as IV chemotherapy, radiation, mastectomy, or lumpectomy.
  • Accuracy: Please ensure that all information provided in your application is truthful and accurate. This helps us assess your needs and fairly allocate our limited resources to those who need them most.
  • Limited Availability: Care kits are based on donations, and supplies are limited. We can approve only a limited number of kits each month and cannot guarantee that every applicant will receive one.
  • Eligibility for U.S. Mainland: Care kits are available only to residents of the United States mainland. Kits may take up to 90 days for delivery.
  • One Kit Per Applicant: Each applicant is eligible to receive one care kit.

There is no income requirement to receive a kit. However, if you have the means to contribute, we offer the option to donate to our Care Kit Program. Your generosity helps us provide care kits to more warriors.

Building Brighter Communities works to provide food and other necessities like toothbrushes and toothpaste to people who lack access to them either to financial or mobility barriers. We partner with other organizations that can provide food resources when possible and we make emergency grocery runs when necessary. We assist community members with applying for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) program for those who are eligible. The primary purpose of the Mission is to acquaint the homeless and the wanderer with the priceless knowledge of the love and forgiveness of God in and through Jesus Christ. Our secondary purpose is to offer a bath, clean clothes, food and a place of shelter for the night.

The Mission provides a complete change of clothing to our guests as needed. We maintain a large clothing storage area which contains shirts, pants, coats, underwear and socks, and shoes. Our clothing articles are donated to us by both individuals and local churches. We also provide to our guests toiletries including soap, shampoo, toothbrushes and paste. Our guests check in at 5:00 PM and are provided clean clothes if desired, and take a shower. In exchange for clothing, we take soiled men’s clothes and after washing, place these clothes in our clothing storage room for reissue to the men.

Proof of I.D. and no more than 2 bags to bring with you.
