Led by the Knights of Columbus, some members of the Catholic parishes in New Braunfels have united for this active Prison Ministry. These dedicated members of Christ's family make weekly visits to inmates in our jails and prisons to bring the word of God to them.

Members of this ministry meet with all inmates, regardless of their religious affiliation, who are interested in learning more about God's love and mercy for them.

You can be a very important part of this ministry by remembering in your prayers all who are a part of this team and all inmates who are taking advantage of this opportunity to draw nearer to our Lord and follow His ways.

There are additional ways to be involved in this ministry. The team welcomes prayer cards, rosaries, and Bibles. All of these items are distributed to those who attend the services.

Reaching Prisoners for Jesus Christ

On the Block has a heart and passion for the incarcerated. We find great joy and a privilege to be allowed to go into the prison units and have worship services, one-on-one interactions, baptisms, and family day events with the inmates.

We also partner with a local radio station in the Houston area, which allows us to bring a word of encouragement to the inmates. Inmates look forward to tuning in every Sunday night.

Everyone will experience conflicts in their life. The word "conflict" will usually create negative thoughts. However, conflict can be positive as well as negative. Negative conflicts are disruptive, destructive, and require a lot of energy. Positive conflicts can be a learning tool from which individuals can learn, grow, and become closer in their relationship.

We live in a complicated and fast-moving society. Stress can affect other emotions such as negative anger. Stress can be defined as a mismatch between an individual’s coping skills and the demands of their life.

The Life Skills for Living Program centers on altering a person’s usual negative response to stress to a new altered response. This altered response involves creating a process to change our techniques in the way we think, feel, and act during stressful periods that we all experience.

Kolbe Prison Ministries of San Antonio (KPM SA) is a regional branch of the Texas-wide Kolbe Prison Ministries (KPM) Catholic organization (sometimes referred to as ‘Kolbe Missions’) founded several years ago in Fredericksburg. KPM SA ministers to incarcerated men and women in five Texas State prisons and jails near San Antonio, and other detention facilities in the Archdiocese of San Antonio.

We’ve found that offenders have a much greater chance of staying out of prison and making lasting changes in their lives if we help them develop a strong faith and offer hope for a better way of living through the truth of the Catholic Church. Kolbe Prison Ministry volunteers make up to three weekly visits to the five state Penitentiaries in the Archdiocese of San Antonio.

EWOP's innovative program is designed to transform the lives of women in prison, so that when they leave, they are prepared both for a job search and an alternate path to success: self-employment.

EWOP goes into a correctional facility, where we work directly with women while they serve their sentence. ?The goal? Total transformation from the inside out.

We Create Personal Connection Through Mentorship.
Knowing someone believes in you, that’s powerful. EWOP volunteer mentors and coaches invest deeply in our participants’ success. From the time they meet in prison to after the women are released, participants can count on a support network to help them reach their goals.

Throughout the year, EWOP hosts events for supporters and volunteers to come encourage, educate, and inspire incarcerated women in Texas.

For more information on events and to sign-up for more information about becoming a volunteer, please click here. Click this link for the volunteer opportunities with EWOP.

Your financial support of the women in our program helps to create a domino effect within their family unit. EWOP women go on to teach their children to be strong, to persevere, and to value education.

The Esperanza Court provides transitional residential support to individuals enrolled in the Bexar County Human Trafficking Court. This Bexar County Specialty Court began operating in May 2014 with the aim of interrupting the cycle of prostitution, arrests and addiction that devastates the lives of women and men. Shortly after the court’s inception, Crosspoint agreed to add its proven model of transitional residential services to the court’s resources.

Crosspoint’s Esperanza program provides a safe and secure residential experience for clients. The program is co-located in our Residential Reentry Center where that program’s structure and accountability rules provide clients positive support in their challenging transition. Esperanza clients who lack positive supports in the community need time to establish a stable foundation for independent growth and success. The Crosspoint program provides a safe haven from which Esperanza clients can take time to build their skills and resources as they prepare for a new life.

Crosspoint provides a structured residential environment for individuals referred by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the U.S. Probation Office or U.S. Pretrial Services.

Accountability is the foundation for this service model. Residents are held accountable for their behavior and progress throughout the program while staff is accountable for adhering to procedures that promote public safety. Every resident undergoes assessment and individualized program planning. After a short in-house orientation period the resident receives additional privileges which allow him/her to become further integrated into the community.

Measures of program progress include:

  • obtaining employment
  • development of a realistic budget
  • improving family and community support systems
  • remaining drug and alcohol-free
  • development of a stable residential plan

The Crosspoint experience helps reduce recidivism and the attendant societal and economic costs by utilizing integrated, evidence-based services.

Crosspoint strives to forge the essential alliance between criminal justice supervision, community service providers and other community stakeholders to provide our clients with the resources and guidance necessary to lead productive lives and achieve restoration of citizenship.

Restoration of the individual, the family and the community at large is paramount and Crosspoint allows for individual restoration through community service projects, faith-based services, structured programming and supportive relationship with our staff.
